Rachel Keller

RachelRachel Keller is a fictional character from The Ring film series. The character was created by producer and writer Ehren Kruger and portrayed by Naomi Watts, serves as the main character in The Ring and The Ring Two that share similarities with Reiko Asakawa from the first Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist trying to figure out a way to escape death after watching a cursed video tape that she discovered while investigating the murder of her niece. In The Ring Two, Rachel must investigate the background of Samara Morgan when her son gets sick with a mysterious ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller is an investigative journalist is approached by her sister Ruth to investigate the mysterious reasons behind Katie's death. She tells Rachel that she discovered her daughter's distorted corpse in the closet. She also reveals the official cause of her death was a heart attack, in spite of Katie being healthy and healthy for a teenager. Katie's friends inform Rachel about the legend surrounding the cursed tape and how Katie's friend Becca was taken to an institution following Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend, along with two of her best friends, all died in mysterious accidents that happened on the same night , at 10:30 PM. Rachel is able to travel to Shelter Mountain Inn and stays in Cabin 12, which is the exact cabin in which Katie and her friends watched the cursed videotape. Rachel finds the mysterious tape and begins to watch it following which her phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel looks to Noah Clay, her ex-boyfriend and a video analyst to seek help. Rachel learns later that Aidan (her son who is also with Noah) saw the tape and said that he believed her. Rachel goes through the tape in search of the lighthouse and discovers it's located on Moesko Island. This was the home of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder who was cursed to appear on the cursed tape. After a thorough investigation, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter, named Samara who was possessed of the ability to burn disturbing images into the minds of humans or animals, as well as objects. Rachel must leave Anna's widower Richard when she starts asking questions about Samara.
